Me Bike - The Dream Bike Festival 27 – 29 July '07
The Me Bike – Dream Bike Festival was inspired by a Simpsons episode, where Homer was asked to build his dream car and does so with bubble domes, fins and horns that play ‘La Cucaracha’. In true Amsterdam style, the festival brings together international and national artists, bike aficionados and enthusiasts to conceive and present their very own Dream Bike.

Me Bike - De FietsfabriekMe Bike - Frank le Lay

This year’s Me Bike - The Dream Bike Festival will take place at the Westergasterrein. The question “What does your dream bike look like?” is answered by various mediums including paintings, graphics, animation, installations – and bicycles. Paper bikes, time machine bikes, love bikes, flower bikes – hundreds of ‘Dream Bikes’ will be on view.

Festival events include live bike customizations, a bike-related cinema program at the Ketelhuis, BMX demonstrations and a Children’s Corner by MacBike. A big city-wide bike tour, which everyone is welcome to join in, will take place on Saturday the 28th.

graf gran gets buffed

An artist showing at Germany's Documenta exhibition of cutting-edge contemporary art is irate that her work, which consists of white tape stuck on roads to form crosses, was quickly removed by Kassel municipal workers.

Lotty Rosenfeld described herself as "appalled" that her work of art was unceremoniously removed by sanitation workers in the city of Kassel, who, one should add, probably had little idea they were destroying works of art when they scraped her white tape off the pavement on city streets.

"It's an act of violence and I feel I've been completely disregarded," she fumed to the dpa news agency.

The Chilean artist's work, putting white tape crosses on streets, dates back to an illegal art action from 1979 in Chile's capital Santiago. There she created hundreds of crosses -- representing death -- to protest the brutality of the dictator Augusto Pinochet.

Since then she has repeated the work in many countries and cities, including India, Berlin and in front of the White House in Washington, DC.

"Sometimes the crosses were removed on the same day, sometimes after a year and sometimes not at all," she said. "But in Kassel, the process seemed particularly brutal."

It appears German efficiency and an inborn need for order took the South American by surprise.

"They scraped it off with shovels and just threw it into the trash," she said. "That hurt."

But she's not blaming sanitation workers. Rather, she's pointing her finger at Documenta officials, saying they didn't really appreciate her work.

As for the exhibition, a spokesperson said the curators do regret the destruction of the work, "but traffic rules still apply, even in the city hosting the Documenta."

Young Designers Lab: art

Friday 27 July 12:00 hrs
till Sunday 29 July 18:00 hrs

Streetlab isn’t just a great place to get your fix of fashion, there is also a long list of artists – from graffiti writers to graphic designers – at hand. Example in case? Bitches in Control: three chicks (F.Lady, Meggie and Lowlita) who have been working together since 2003. They paint murals, make silk-screen prints, produce their own graffiti and street art magazine titled ‘Catfight’ and run their own fashion label: Hübsch & Hardcore. Talk about some busy ‘bitches’!
You can also marvel at the murals and other (spray) painted works of Verenigde Straten. This Amsterdam-based street collective was born at Streetlab Showoff#1, which was held at 11, Amsterdam. Put the five members of the collective together, that is Crackpot, Hetzer, Kom, Sopa000 and Mike Clark, and you’ll end up with raw, no-holds-barred work. You have been warned!

The heart of the Streetlab Festival is a large-scale exhibition that features work from both national and international artists and fashion designers. Fifty containers have been placed in Zuiveringshal West. Here the participating designers, photographers, artists and other creatives will present their work to the public.

graf gran's garden gets up

I heard a story the other day, in a Jordaan Cafe. I was asking about the Dutch name for Hollyhocks, which is stockrosen. They are currently in bloom and are thickly spread throughout the streets of Amsterdam.

I was told that thay are the gift of an elderly Amsterdam woman who spread the seeds in the streets before she died. They have continued to spread and bloom.

This is all the information I have, if you know more can you let me know please?

This is a self perpetuating street installation of great beauty.

Who we are and where we stand in front Living on the world improves and more beautiful make. For Loesje is that no air castle or an activity which can leave the bests concerning to the bosses, experts and/or speculators. Your ideals to realise does you of it building a castle daily. Let hear of you, intervene, participate. Rumour: Somewhere in its day book a secret plan for conquering the world seems have to stand Loesje. That plan comes there on that within 8 years the Netherlands in the knip, within 16 years the activities BelgIi sit? and Luxembourg in the spell bring vervolgens in 32 and 64 years to keep on pushing to Europe and the complete world. Itself makes texts Everyone has influence. But how do you get that? Posters make our answer is. Others make a newspaper, set up a loss-making TV station or start a trade union. Loesje choose for the poster as a medium. Simply, direct, on the street and under people. The right to the freedom of opinion shaping is not there for nothing. Well, we do still the right to opinion shaping and opinion change. With the posters we ensure a flow of progressive idee?n which does not dry. We think that early or leaves nobody there to escape can. And then it becomes really just celebrates. Rumour: For Loesje the history is still not at all in order. Them even thinks that the nicest time lies still for us. According to her is that rechts-conservatieve-consumptie-gedoe of the last time again on his retour. Sense to help a hand? O yes, Loesje think that capitalism is succeeded by a creative society. There she strives thus to. Texts make for yourself To do some brainstorming, circular, imagination and fantasie. Many people send in also texts by means of our e mail address and the PO Box. At the beginning of the final editing there each month a list with two hundred texts hundred fifty lies from which can be chosen. Rumour: During the final editing they will discuss sometimes hours a text, whereas them at the same moment another text carelessly the prullenbak in to tumble. Further them with faxes and roll texts seem work there from the all over the world, whereas your text has exactly left to Helsinki or Rio the Janeiro... Loesje in practice He who of Loesje thinks no tightly organised association present himself of which the members come on the basis of formal appointments exactly on time at each other under the guidance of a bureaucratic governing board, must. Loesje are in practice which she carries out in its posters. An association which twists on enthusiasm and motivation, on idee?n and initiative. People who are active at Loesje are that from itself and not on the basis of democratically taken decide. You have sense or not. Enthusiasm and action strength, there go it for. Rumour: It seems that the best action of Loesje is unexpectedly invented generally and for the other members of it know something already is carried out also. To stick Officially plakken in the Netherlands have been still prohibited at many places. But in practice many police constables look at the other side on when they see you to the work. Also in a number of municipalities the prohibition on plakken has been put outside functioning because there not sufficient plakplaatsen are available for ide?le plakkers. There nevertheless difficulties should be then look Loesje after a lawyer at a possible process. We fight all cases to the Supreme Court from because we want create this way clarity how it is put with the freedom of opinion expression for ideële plakkers. Rumour: The best plakker of Loesje has been taken up once on a day four times. The agents who they would be now, however, from him but Sjaak stepped after each visit to the office simply at first the behangzaak to, thought each time bought new spullen, picked up at home new posters and left direction centre. After the fourth time those posters hung, however, beautiful. Since that day has been ie as a matter of fact taken up never more. To participate, member becomes, subscriptions, donaties and products You can member become of Loesje. At this moment Loesje approximately thousand members count of which there are two hundred really active. Active members invent with other members texts, ensure goeie idee?n, spread poster and are not dirty of more life in city, place or village. For? 25, - per year are you posterabonnee. call - The Australia Council's Second Life residency

**Pioneering Second Life artist to inspire Australian artists**

On 12 July, the Australia Council for the Arts, in partnership with
the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), will host its first
ever artist forum in Second Life.

The in-world event, to be moderated by ABCs Sunday Arts
reporter/producer Fenella Kernebone, is for the Australia Councils
inaugural Second Life artist residency.

In an open forum at 7pm (EST) on ABC Island, Paris-based artist and
architect Brad Kligerman - one of the first artists in Second Life to
complete an in-world residency - will present his work, discuss ideas
and answer participants questions.

Brad, an architect and teacher, completed his 11-week residency with
US-based Ars Virtua <http://arsvirtua.com>
a new media centre and gallery in Second Life, where he questioned
the idea of materiality in the rendered environment and the nature of
image.

Australia Council chief executive officer Kathy Keele said the
partnership with the ABC was a great fit with the Australia Councils
Second Life initiative. The ABC was the first Australian media
organisation to establish a presence in Second Life and we are
excited about working with them on this project.

We hope that Australian artists gain valuable insight from Brad
Kligermans successful art interventions in Second Life and that they
will be inspired to create innovative works in-world that will place
them at the forefront of this groundbreaking practice, Kathy Keele
said.

The Australia Council has also set up an artists' forum in Second
Life for artists looking for other artists with whom to collaborate.
The moderated artists forum can be found at ABC Island
<http://slurl.com/secondlife/ABC%20Island/128/128/0/>
and the Australian Film, Television and Radio School (AFTRS) Island,
Esperance <http://slurl.com/secondlife/Esperance/91/107/23/>
(please note these Second Life URLs or SLURLs link to locations in
Second Life).

Opened in February 2007, ABC Island explores new and different ways
to present content to its audiences. As well as creating social
spaces for Second Life visitors, the island showcases Australian
talent and creativity in an innovative way.

Places for the 12 July Second Life event are limited. To register
email slrsvp@ozco.gov.au
with your Second Life Avatar name. The event will be streamed live
at http:slcn.tv.
A vodcast of the event will also be available on the ABC Sunday Arts
website <http://abc.net.au/sundayarts>
. Sunday Arts screens Sundays at 5.00pm.

The Australia Councils Second Life residency will enable a team of
up to three artists, including a writer, musician/sound artist and
digital visual media practitioner to collaborate on the development
of inter-disciplinary artwork in Second Life. The project, which will
take place online, will require the artists to explore the
possibilities of literary, music/sound art and real time 3-D arts
practices within the virtual realm.

The residency is open to Australian citizens and permanent residents.
Applications close on 27 July 2007. For more information visit

Aerosol Symphonies

Amsterdam, juni 2007

http://www.gogallery.nl/

Op zaterdag 11 augustus opent GO Gallery de expositie Aerosol Symphonies.
(Aerosol = spuitbus).

Faith 71, In hout (Johan Andeloe), Illustrator Tiquestar Illuminat Rex, Laser 3.14,
Morcky & The Boghe (Two Things), Pauline Niks, Weasel, Recal, Lèstoir , Zedz en DelightDelirium.

ING en Postbank, LEVI’s, MTV, Tropen Instituut e.v.a..
