One year ago on Nov 2 Theo Van Gogh, a descendant of the brother of 19th century Dutch painter Vincent van Gogh, was shot and stabbed on an Amsterdam street. The filmmaker was an outspoken critic of Islam. The killer shot him, then cut his throat and pinned a five-page note to his chest filled with religious ramblings and threats of further attacks in the name of radical Islam. The killing set off a wave of retaliatory attacks on Dutch mosques that could be repeated on the anniversary.
