Young Belgian painting was founded in 1950. Every two years it awards its prizes based on the decisions of an international jury. The artists invited to participate must be Belgian or must have resided in Belgium for at least a year, and be under 35 years old on 1st January 2005. The winners are invited to exhibit in the rooms of the Palais des Beaux-Arts during the Summer and the Prizes are awarded by the jury on the day of the official opening of the exhibit, during which they will be announced.
Four prizes are awarded: a prize of 25.000 €, the Crowet Prize, and three of 12500€, the Langui Prize, the Palais des Beaux-Arts Prize and the ING Prize
